The Episode ES-HTR-IWSURR-6 is a Home Theater Reference Series 6" in-wall surround speaker. It is built for dedicated theaters and high-end media rooms where surround channels need to deliver an enveloping, spacious sound field that matches a reference-grade front stage.

The speaker uses a rigid MDF cabinet with an aluminum baffle. MDF is dense and reduces vibration, preventing SPL loss and delivering cleaner sound than particle board, and the removable enclosure back improves bass extension and can be used in a large stud bay. Its 2-way design with ambient and direct modes means it can be installed as a traditional direct-radiating surround, as a bipole/dipole surround, or ceiling-mounted as a height channel.

A 1" aluminum dome tweeter, chambered and paired with a copper shorting ring, reduces resonance and distortion. 1-1/4" aluminum dome wide-band transducers, adjustable through Sound Field Management switches, change and enhance the sense of spaciousness and envelopment. Carbon fiber woofers with die-cast baskets and inverted ribbed surrounds resist deformation and keep cone movement linear at high volume. Second-order 2-way Linkwitz-Riley filters with Zobel impedance matching linearize system impedance and improve dynamic range, while Tonal Balance and Spatial Sound controls tune bass, treble, bipole/dipole operation and dispersion for each seat.
